group exercise classes at council-run facilities: a guide
Eugene Parks and Recreation runs group fitness sessions at multiple city sites with options for all ages and experience levels.
How we reported this

Eugene Parks and Recreation opened registration this week for its July and August group exercise schedule at three main facilities. Residents can choose from yoga, strength circuits, and low-impact cardio classes held at fixed times each week.
The city expanded these offerings after local participation in public fitness programs rose sharply following the 2023 reopening of indoor spaces. Data from the department shows steady demand in neighborhoods where residents seek low-cost alternatives to private gyms.
Locations and class details
The Hilyard Community Center at 2580 Hilyard Street hosts morning strength classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. The same building runs an evening yoga session on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. for participants aged 18 and older. In the Whiteaker neighborhood, the River House at 301 River Ave. offers seated circuit training on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and a mixed-level dance cardio class on Saturdays at 11 a.m. Both sites operate under the same city fee structure.
City records indicate 1,842 individual class slots were filled across these locations between April and June this year. Drop-in rates sit at $9 per session for residents who register through the online portal or at the front desk. Monthly passes cost $48 and cover unlimited access to any scheduled group class at the listed venues.
Signing up and next steps
Participants can view the full timetable and reserve spots on the Eugene Parks and Recreation website or by calling the main office at 541-682-5333. New attendees receive a one-time orientation at either the Hilyard or River House location before their first class. Those without internet access can pick up paper schedules at the downtown library branch on 100 W 10th Ave.
City staff advise checking the website each Monday for any weather-related changes to outdoor portions of classes. Residents who prefer to start with a single visit can pay the drop-in fee on site with cash or card.
